In memoriam: Hon. Joseph N. Ingolia

FALJC member Chief Judge Walter J. Brudzinski has shared this tribute marking the passing of former Coast Guard Chief Judge Ingolia

To All:

I’m sad to report that our former Chief Administrative Law Judge (1991-2011), Hon. Joseph N. Ingolia, passed away last night at his home in Towson, Maryland.  Chief Judge Ingolia had been ill for several years and was suffering from multiple conditions for which he was recently hospitalized and discharged last Friday.  He was 94.

What we know so far is that the funeral arrangements will be handled by Ruck Towson Funeral Home, 1050 York Road, Towson, Maryland 21234 with burial at Moreland Memorial Park Cemetery, 1601 Taylor Avenue, Parkville, Maryland 21234, date/time pending.

Chief Judge Ingolia’s government career spanned more than 65 years of service starting as an officer in the U.S. Army during WWII and included service in Korea, followed by positions with the IRS, Senate Staff, Tax Court, and as General Counsel of the Federal Maritime Commission prior to his service as our Chief Administrative Law Judge.

Chief Judge Ingolia was part of the “greatest generation” exemplified by his military service in WWII and Korea followed by his continuing contributions to our country, culminating as Chief Administrative Law Judge, United States Coast Guard.   He will be missed.

Semper Paratus,

Walter J. Brudzinski
